*MOWING
Prior to mowing, we will police the turf areas of the lawn for tree
limbs or obstructions. We will completely and evenly mow turf at a
height most suitable for the species and the site’s specific needs.
In areas we can not reach with a lawnmower, we will string trim the
turf to the height of the adjacent turf. We do not bag grass
clippings to the turf for nutritional replenishment. This process
is called grass cycling and it is a tremendous help to our
environment.
*CLEAN UP
We will blow
clean all
concrete surfaces, patios, decks and parking areas of debris from
the lawn maintenance process. We will neatly wrap water hoses and
place patio chairs
neatly under patio tables.
*SHRUB CARE
It is important to remember that pruning plans is a process, not an
event. There is no one-day of the year that all plants are to be
pruned. Each species has very specifying pruning needs based on
flower production and growing season. There will always be plants
that require pruning in the landscape. First priority is pruning
for bloom production, second is structure pruning for plant
development and third is space management. Our employees are
trained on the most common landscape plants in San Antonio. If you
have extensive planting with specialty items, we will inventory the
plants and discuss proper pruning. We will keep specialty pruning
notes on file for future reference. We will fertilize your shrubs
one time each year to keep them growing and green.
*MULCHING
Mulch is the choice for ornamental shrub beds and natural areas in
San Antonio. It benefits shrub bed by helping to retain moisture,
control weeds, prevent erosion, protect from temperatures extremes
and to improve the appearance of your bed areas. Our mulch is free
of rocks, debris. This classification of work is critical to
overall success of our complete maintenance program. The fee quoted
for mulch will include:
1.
Delivery of Mulch
2.
Establish a vertical trench to define the bed area
3.
Apply a Pre-Emergent to bed area
4.
Install/Spread mulch 3”-4”
5.
Completely remove much from foliage of plants.
6.
Clean up all debris from installation process
Mulch must be replenished a minimum of one time per year. A second
application during the year to freshen the color is recommended.
Mulch that is located in full sun exposure will deteriorate much
more quickly than mulch in naturally shaded areas without
irrigation. If your mulch begins to look thin or its color does not
look good; please contact our office staff about our mulch service.
*WEEDING
Shrub beds, natural areas with mulch and ground cover areas will be
weeded on every visit during the year. We us Round-Up
herbicide on any weed that we can safely apply without injury to
ornamental plants. We hand pull weeds within the canopy of shrubs
or ground covers. We use selective herbicides for persistent
perennial weeds and grass control as needed. Your bed areas should
remain 95% weed free. There will always be some weed present in a
fertile growing environment. Our intention is to always control
weeds with no injury to shrubs, ground covers or trees.
*EDGING
We will edge concrete borders such as walkways, curbs, and driveways
each mowing during the growing season with a mechanical edger if
applicable other wise we will use a string trimmer to define
edge along walkways, curbs, driveways, and bed lines that have been
established by a vertical trench.
*TRASH REMOVAL
We remove all plant pruning materials from your site, shred/chip the
pruning at our shop and compost the material for mulch. We police
trash on site (paper, cans, glass) and recycle glass and aluminum.
We utilize mulching type lawn mowers to process leaves and pine
straw from trees your site.
*FERTILIZATION
Application of fertilizer containing Nitrogen, Phosphorous,
Potassium, should be applied:
*Early Spring:
Application of a pre-emergent herbicide is applied at 1.5 pounds of
actual Nitrogen per 1000 square feet plus pre-emergent herbicide,
and broadleaf herbicide for control of grassy weeds.
*Mid-Spring:
Second application of a pre-emergent herbicide is applied at 1pound
of actual nitrogen per 1000 square feet plus pre-emergent herbicide
and broadleaf herbicide for control of grassy weeds and a broadleaf
weed control. An iron supplement with micronutrients will also be
added to improve summer hardiness.
*Early Fall:
Third application of time released balanced fertilizer and broadleaf
herbicide spot treatment is applied ¾ pound of actual nitrogen per
1000 square feet and broadleaf herbicide as needed.
*Late Fall:
Last application of the season. Quick release nitrogen fertilizer
to promote a strong root system throughout the winter and ensure
early spring green up.
*PEST MANAGEMENT
We treat anthills with Andro insecticide by the mound at each
visit. It is an ongoing chore. It is not possible to totally
eliminate ants from the South Texas landscape. We scout for plant
pest and treat as needed.
*INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT
Mowing frequency, mowing height, fertilization and irrigation affect
weed control. Managing these separate cultural practices is called
the Process of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). IPM is followed by
Randolph Lawn Maintenance to minimize the
amount of pesticides used in your landscape. We will monitor your
lawn for problems or changes in its appearance. If a problem is
detected, we will first identify the pest and then treat affected
areas with proper pesticides at label rates. We do not schedule
applications of insecticides or fungicides to ‘prevent’ pests.
*FLORICULTURE
Seasonal color beds are used
to draw attention to entryways of property, highlight sign areas or
enhance views through the landscape. There are two seasons in South
Texas for annual flowers. Summer annuals are installed in May
through September. Winter annuals are installed in October through
April. There a countless types of annual flowers, which are
available in dozens of colors. It is our job to recognize the
specific site conditions you have and match the proper plants in a
unique display. We call the entire process our floriculture
program; it includes:
1.
Pull and remove existing annual plants/
2.
Prune back any plants that encroach the bed.
3.
Remove old mulch from bed.
4.
Till and grade soil.
5.
Contour soil for proper drainage.
6.
Add soil amendments.
7.
Arrange a creative floral display with plants.
8.
Install 4” size pots of annuals.
9.
Apply insecticide.
10.
Install 2” layer of mulch.
11.
Clean-up site thoroughly and remove debris.
12.
Initial watering & fertilization to a depth of 4” to 6”.
13.
Follow-up IPM and fertilize for 6 months.
14.
Replacement warranty on all plants installed.
We guarantee our annual flower program will provide a colorful
display for you to enjoy and admire throughout the season. We
ask you to help monitor and water the plants daily during the first
2 weeks for establishment. Also, water during periods of
drought throughout the summer.

seven (7) day rotation indicates a visit once per week. Flexibility
is needed due to weather, holidays and Sundays. Our ten (10) day
rotation will be mowed every 10h day unless the day falls on a
Saturday or Sunday in which the lawn will be mowed on the 9th
